Scientific Evening 2014

Assalamualaikum... :)

Pheww~ Alhamdulillah, finally we’ve done with the Scientific Evening. It was indeed a memorable evening for most of us obviously, as it can be said that every Infinitors had endured great ‘pain’ to bear the urge to perform their very best so that the trophy will be theirs.  Now, wait. Have no ideas what is Scientific Evening of KOD is all about? It’s an evening when your minds will be in a whirl. “ Is this Kuliyyah of Dentistry or Kuliyyah of Drama?!”  

Scientific Evening is an event annually held to deliver scientific facts and theories into dramas, where the first year students are chosen (it’s an honour, isn’t it guys?) to perform according to respective themes. As for this year, there are four teams which had been assigned with four respective themes;

Orthodontics, Basic Medical Science, Periodontics, Oral Medicine Oral Pathology.

Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology: Sampoerna

Periodontics: The Ghosts, The Kids and dot dot dot

Basic Medical Science: Unreturned Smile

Needless to say, there are ups and downs throughout the period of preparation for the most awaited evening. Even from the beginning, when the first proposed date was very close to InterBatch Games until further postponement and finally it was held on 16^th December 2014.

The Actors

Okay saya dah penat speaking. Berbelit lidah aku. Sekarang jom kita dengar pengalaman dari member-member group lain apa yang dia rasa sepanjang berlangsungnya Scientific Evening ni.

Seronok dengan group member yang fun lagi sporting. Sebenarnya mula-mula saya nak berlakon jadi nyamuk je sebab rasa rendah diri tak pandai berlakon, tetapi mereka ternyata sempoi dan bergaya berjaya mengajar saya membuat reaksi pembunuh jahat walaupun saya ni pemalu orangnya. ;P apa-apa pun alhamdulillah saya enjoy, tahniah kepada semua Infi8tors. Love ( <3 )yo u guys to the moon and the sun :D

Waktu first-first memang tak suka sangat sebab rasa diri ni dan tak confidence nak berlakon ke apa ke atas pentas. Tapi alhamdulillah dikurniakan teammate yang hebat-hebat. Mereka yang bersungguh-sungguh menulis skrip dan membuat prop. Setiap ahli dilatih agar dapat menjiwai watak masing-masing. Siapa kata tak stress kan sebab most of the time untuk roleplay. Tapi satu hikmah yang nampak ialah meningkatkan keyakinan diri dan melatih diri untuk berhubung dengan orang. Belajar untuk bertoleransi. Belajar untuk berlapang dada antara ahli kumpulan. Practice makes perfect dan satu je yang terkurang sikit. Maybe banyak kut. Iaitu confidence akan menang. Sampai kadang-kadang terlupa pergantungan kepada Allah. Nauzubillah. Sepatutnya before start latihan baca al-fatihah dulu, selawat dan istighfar. Tapi semua tu tak dipraktikkan. Akhir-akhir tu baru tersedar. Insyaallah nanti kami akan nasihatkan junior-junior buat macam tu.

Errmm… dapat kenal dengan lebih dekat lagi kawan perempuan. Tahu macam mana kalau tengah marah, tengah gelak, share suka duka bersama. Lepas tu jadi lagi rapat. Dengan brothers pun lebih kurang sama. Dapat tahu bakat sorang-sorang tu macam mana. Dalam kelas lain, senyap je, tapi bila berlakon mantop gitu. And after performance ukhuwwah lagi rapat and insyaallah after this, nak kerja dengan dia orang dalam masa 5 tahun lebih selesa. Conclusion: role play ni memang best, semua perasaan ada, suka, sedih, nak marah, kecewa,seronok, enjoy,redha, bangga and macam-macam lagi la.

I had a very good time working with the Sampoerna team. All of us did our part well. Eventhough there were difficult times in the making of our play, particularly when we decided to change the whole story at the wee hours, Alhamdulillah we managed to keep everything in place in just about time.

 Scientific evening was a memorable experience. It did brush up my rusting English once we need to alter the whole script and storyline. Best sebab dapat belajar untuk tolerate dengan groupmate. Stress bila kena tangguh 2 kali haha tapi lega once dah perform. Bercampur baur, bila menang first place terkejut speechless semua sebab unexpected at all. Ingatkan Periodontica atau Basic Medical Science (BMS) yang menang. Terkejut sebab tak nak perform and deal dengan props dah. Ahhaha.

 I think i’m the only person who wasn’t really looking forward for this event, honestly. At the beginning, when we got our task I tried to take it positively as a chance to enjoy. However as time goes by, I just couldn’t help myself from feeling annoyed being unconscious slave to the people who have mastered their time. There were times when I failed to mask my frustration and disagreement with such lousy attitudes, not respecting the time. Approaching to the date of event, I had to make myself promise with myself that I’ll try to give the best cooperation I could for the last three days. My facial muscles stiffened faking the smiles. Ouch it hurt, yes it hurt out of insincerity. The only thing that was in my mind was to just do well with my part. Of course I didn’t , to be compared with the others.

However, despite all the bitterness I faced, miracles happened too. The miracles were when I realised that Allah sent me people who care about me that they noticed I’ve been furious and not smiling everytime we gathered for practices. ‘ Kenapa tak senyum? Ada masalah ke? Tak suka ya ?’ she said in a gentle manner that it melt my raging heart. Next was when I suddenly burst to laughter when the actors did something funny and the same person said “ Waah..awak ketawa!”, while showing her white teeth curving broad smile on her face. And lastly, on the day of Scientific evening, some or the whole team were panic due to some problems and one of the members cried. I don’t know why but it just dig out some humanity in me that i told myself, this is your time to be more human and help the team, stop being selfish. Later when the results were announced, all I felt was sense of relief to see rest of the team were happy. And relieved too because my nightmare is over.

Wow,  I guess Scientific Evening really has its own impact on the lives of Infi8tors. All spices, flavours are mixed up and made it a ‘dish’ that we’ll never forget. So, guess which team won the trophy?? Remarkably , SEMPOERNA team which brings the Oral Pathology theme won the first place followed by The Orthodonking , Periodontica The Ghost The Kids and dot dot dot , and Unreturned smile. There were special awards too for the best actor and actress which belongs to the King of Camelot ( Brother Faiz or well known as Abah ) and Opah ( Sister Zawin , our assistant batch leader :D ). The Unreturned Smile team won the best prop category. Hopefully everyone enjoyed and learnt from the plays that had been performed by all of us.

Lastly, we the Infini8tors would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the Kuliyyah especially The Eximius Seventh for all the hardwork and maximum effort that they had put in making the event a successful one. We really apologize for any lackings and problems caused to you guys.
